Which Sailor Moon Character Are You?

Sailor Moon is a Japanese manga series that was published in the shōjo manga magazine Nakayoshi from 1991 to 1997. The series has gained widespread universal appeal, mainly due to its praise for its characters, art direction, and unique humour. Being one of the best-selling manga series of all time, it has left a big impact with its characters and writing. So let’s have a look at the cast of Sailor Moon and see, out of all the unique characters, which ones you might resonate with the most!

A Look At The Colourful Cast of Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon is known not just for its cute art direction and fun storytelling that brings everyone from all age groups and both boys and girls together, but also for its unique characters whom everyone can relate to on some level. Let’s take a look!

Usagi Tsukino/Serena — Sailor Moon

As the protagonist of the series, on the surface, she appears to be merely an ordinary high school student. Still, one day, she discovers her powers through the appearance of her Mentor, Mascot Luna, and realises that she is a warrior who must protect the earth from that which threatens to destroy it. Usagi’s personality serves as the heart of the story. She expresses deep empathy and emotion—sometimes even coming across as a bit of a crybaby—and consistently shows a strong propensity toward loyalty and virtue. If we were to examine it through the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Personality Types), we could see that she is an INFP. She is a thoughtful idealist, but also exhibits some of the more negative traits of the INFP, such as being lazy, preferring to play video games all day, and indulging in sweets. Additionally, she dislikes mathematics and often ignores her responsibilities. In short, she is a bit flawed and human, which makes her so endearing to fans of the series.

Ami Mizuno/Amy — Sailor Mercury

A shy, blue-haired girl, insecure but intelligent. As a person, she tends to obsess over her grades excessively and is somewhat timid. She is a very loyal friend. Among all the Sailor Moon characters, she is the one with the most analytical and logical personality. What Sailor Moon lacks in technical expertise, Sailor Mercury makes up for it. In terms of the MBTI, she is an INTJ, which helps explain her logical and technical nature, making her a strong asset to the team and adding a logical touch to the rest of the cast of characters.

Makoto Kino/Lita — Sailor Jupiter

Although she presents herself as a tough, tall, and intimidating woman, appearances can be deceiving; Makoto is actually quite friendly and nurturing. She is the strongest physically of the whole team. Her hobbies include cooking and working out. Even before she became a guardian, she gained a reputation as a bit of an action girl, fighting at her school and protecting Usagi from a gang of thugs. In terms of MBTI, she is very extroverted, which indicates that she is an ESFJ. In many ways, she handles social situations well and tends to get along with people. However, she’s also sensitive and can become easily upset at times.

Minako Aino / Sailor Venus

The most experienced of the group, she fought for a whole year before joining the Four Soldiers of the Guardian Gods, showing a unique and individualistic personality. At one point, she even left the group to return to her volleyball team, which she had quit because of her responsibility to save the world, but the others pulled her back in. Her friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic, and flexible nature makes her a good fit for the description of an ESTP. One of the things that makes her unique is her obsession with finding a boyfriend or becoming overly attracted to boys she finds attractive.

Rei Hino/Raye — Sailor Mars

Sailor Mars possesses strong psychic abilities on top of her abilities as a Sailor Guardian. She varies as a character from one adaptation to the next; however, in all the versions, she is a strong and capable fighter and one of Usagi’s closest friends. However, they do occasionally have some animosity between them. At times, she tends to be quite distant with her colleagues, but at the same time, she is not quite a loner either. She is very logical and pragmatic, but also deeply spiritual at the same time, which shows in the fact that she holds a strong enthusiasm for ancient writing. She can be described as being an ENTJ.

Setsuna Meioh/Trista — Sailor Pluto

Setsuna Meioh acts quite aloof, having spent nearly a millennium in isolation, and although she takes her job very seriously, she reveals a soft side that makes her more willing to bend the rules for the people she cares about the most. She is very hard-working, diligent, and composed. As a result, she would fall under the ISTJ personality type.

Haruka Tenoh/Amara — Sailor Uranus

Amara is the most pragmatic of the guardians, so much so that in many ways, she even exhibits beliefs such as the ‘ends justify the means’ by being willing to sacrifice lives for the greater good. This is quite damaging to her. However, she never admits this. In terms of appearance, she’s quite tomboyish-looking but eventually starts wearing more feminine outfits. In terms of personality out of all the Sailor Moon characters, she’s fiercely independent, resisting what society expects from her, and has the mindset of not caring what anyone thinks of her. At the age of 16, she was even a race car driver. In terms of MBTI, she is an ISTP.

Michiru Kaioh/Michelle — Sailor Neptune

Graceful, elegant and sophisticated. Sailor Neptune is very observant, very in tune with nature as well as being very practical. She is fiercely dedicated to her work as a Soldier Of The Outer Solar System. This makes her, in many ways, an ISFP.

Hotaru Tomoe — Sailor Saturn

One of the most complex and deep characters in the story, Sailor Saturn is part cyborg, possessed by the Daimon mistress nine and secretly harbours abilities to destroy entire worlds. A great deal of her behaviour falls under the INFJ personality type. She is sensitive, insightful, and has visions of impending disasters. She is conceptual and symbolically focused. Among her quotes is “I am an emissary from the abyss of Death. Protected by Saturn, the Outer Planet of Destruction, the Guardian of Silence. I am Sailor Saturn.” With her strong words and the ability to back them up, she can definitely talk the talk and walk the walk!

The Joy Of Sailor Moon And It’s Characters

Every Sailor Moon character has something unique about them, be it their fierce independence in the case of Sailor Uranus or laziness and love of sweets like with the protagonist Sailor Moon, and that’s what makes the manga such an enjoyable read for so many fans. So, which Sailor Moon Character are you? Who do you relate to the most?
